The Darwin mbdal lias been awarded among others, to Alfred Russell Wallace, 1890; Sir J. D. Hooker, 1892; T. 11. Huxley, 1894; Ernest Haeckel, 1900; Francis Galton, 1902; William Bateson, 1904; August Weismann, 1908; Francis Darwin, 1912; Yves Delagc, 1916; Tlios. H. Morgan, 1924; Duckinfield Henry Scott, 1926. Dr. Cockayne’s is the twentieth medal. Glorious weather prevailed for People’s Day at the Christchurch A. and I*. Show, and thousands attended from all over Canterbury, as well as hundreds of visitors from other parts, who are taking part in Carnival Week.

Mr. Platts entered judgment for 15/- a week, plus back maintenance and birth expenses. Security for appeal was fixed at £35.
