CIVIL ENGINEERS (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. There is romance in the civil engineering profession, members of which, if they will, may travel widely. Already the Arnpuni staff of Sir William Armstrong, Whitworth and Co. is scattered over the world. The chief, Mr. F. W. A. Handmand, who was in Brazil before coining to- New Zealand is now on his way to England, and, judging by experience, others may soon be looked for in any continent. Mr. F, D. Martin went to England, and almost immediately left for Nigeria, where he is now employed. Mr. W. S. Ray was in England only two week? before he left for the Malay States. Mr. 11. W. Thomson is in Montreal, Mr. I. T. Chessou at Niagara Falls, and Mr. W. Hudson and Mr. Tl. .Bright are in Australia. Mr. F. Creenhougli is still in England, whither Air. A. J. Learmouth is bound, leaving to-day. Mr. Kirby, who lias done work in South America and (lie Far East, has remained in the service of the Public Works Department at- Arapum.
