PRINCE OF WALES CUP TOKERAU RUGBY TEAM The final selection for the Tokerau team which meets the Tairawhiti fifteen in the Prince of Wales Cup match in Gisborne on Saturday has been made, and appears to be a solid combination, capable of testing the real strength oi their opponents. A meeting of the management committee of the East Coast ltugby Union was held at Ruatoria on Saturday.

The Tolaga Bay sub-Union intimated that they would he unable to accept « challenge for the Lockwood Cup during September.—After a brief discussion it was decided that any sub-Union should be prepared to accept challengers at any time during the season. The meeting resolved that tho challenge of Euatoria for the Lockwood Cup on September 1 he accepted. 'Dm Matakaoa sub-Union lias withdrawn all challenges for the Eepere Cup owing to several players being laid up with influenza. The matter of school football (Oates, and Forster cups) is to be decided by the masters.

The Wairoa sub-Union wrote stating that August 25 was the only date available for the Barry Cup match. As this was the date fixed for the East CoastHawke’s Bay match, it was decided to withdraw the challenge for the Barry Cup unless the match could he played on August 22. The Hawke’s Bay union intimated that its offer of a match was conditional on Mepia and Mill playing. Mr. Oliver Goldsmith applied for the removal of the suspension imposed upon him two years ago. —It was resolved that the application could not be entertained until the writer had made ample .apology in writing and in person. The matter of the transport of the team to Napier was left in the hands ol the chairman and secretary. The Rev. I’. Tamahori was appointed manager of the team to play Hawke’s Bay. The following Rugby fixtures are set down : August 18, Tokimianit Bay juniors v Tolaga |!ay juniors for Waiapu Banner, al- Tolaga Bay; Euatoria v. Waiapu juniors for junior l'orourangi Cup, at likitiki. August 25. Tolcomaru v. winner of match Euatoria v. Waiapu. 'Sep tember 1. Euatoria v. Tolaga. Bav for Lockwood Cup, at Tolaga Bay. In the event of Tolaga Bav retaining the Waiapu Banner, Euatoria juniors will also play at Tolaga Bay on September 1.
