SUMMER TIME
THE FIRST PROTESTS (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this flay. Tho first petition against daylight saving made its appearance in the House yesterday. It came from 28 dairy "farmers and workers in the neighborhood of Dunedin. Dairymen, they stated, would have to get up in the dark all the vear round, instead of having me benefit of early daylight in summer, and cows would he milked too early in the afternoon before the heat nl day was over, this adding to the difficulty in preserving milk. Several other disadvantages of summer time law are enumerated, and the petition concludes with a declaration that the Summer Time Act caters principally for pleasure and recreation, while it is a serious handicap on the primary producer, on whom the real progress of the Dominion depends. Mr. *T. K. Sidey's Bill comes before the House for the 1 second reading to-day.
