Mr. W. D. Lysnar, M.J'., was a visitor to Auckland on Saturday. Mr. 11. S. M. Quigley, of Dannevirke, who was recently elected a member pt the liawke's Bay Education Board, was extended a welcome by members of that body on Friday. Dr. E. B. Fowler" of the Cook Hospital, Gisborne, was, at a meeting of the Otago University Council, appointed assistant in the* pathology department. Mr. W. Hamilton Irvine, president of the Rotary Club, and Mr. Q. Nieholls, secretary, "left for Wellington to-day to attend the District Governors Conference of New Zealand Notary Clubs to be held at Wellington this week under the presidency of Sir Alexander Roberts.

Mr. A. E. Davy, Dominion organiser for the United Political Party, underwent an operation for a initfor complaint at a private hospital in Wellington, and is reported to be progressing favorably. Mr. Davy's many friends and acquaintances (remarks the Post) will wish him a speedy recovery.

Mr. S. A. Ferguson, who has been nominated to lill the position on the Dairy Board vacated by Mr. Goodfellow, lias been chairman of directors of the Norfolk Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., for»the past 11 years, and for the past four years chairman of the. South Auckland 'Dairy Association. Mr. Ferguson was brought up on a dairy farm in the Pukckolio district, and after he left home was sawmiiling for a number of years. About 17 years ago be started dairy farming in the Pukekohe district, and two years later removed to his present farm at Motumaoho.

' The Irish tenor, Mr. Alfred O'Shea, Miss Fitzgerald, pianist, and Miss Ilartge, violinist, were accorded a reception in the Masonic lounge tins afternoon, when a large number of the public, including the Mayor,, Mr. W. D. Coleman, assembled to extend a, hearty welcome to the visitors. In opening the function, His Worship extended a sincere welcome to the visitors. Mr. O'Shea, in reply, stated that he had pre viously beard of Gisborne, and laid always looked forward to seeing and meeting its. people. Other speakers were Messrs. T. Quirk. S. Y. Beaufoy. and the Rev. Father Murphy.
