Lord Bucklnnd, succumbed to-day to injuries sustained in a riding accident.

Lord Bucklnnd was killed while riding in the grounds of his residence, near Brecon. He was a brother of Sir William Berry and Sir Comer Berry, who are big industrialists and newspaper owners. |
The late Lord Bue.klandj formerly Mr. H. Seymour Berry, was elevated to the peerage in; 1926, after a remarkable business career. He was actively associated with no less than f>o companies,, but most of his time was devoted to the Welsh coal industry. He 'made many munificent gifts to his home town of Mcrthyr Tydvil, and to national churches. He was fil years of age, and is survived by his widow and five daughters.'

The sudden death occurred yesterday afternoon of Mr. William Arthur Kitchen, aged 65 years. The deceased was a resident of Carterton for 35 years, for most of which he. was manager of the Wairarnpa Farmers,', Co-operative Association's drapery department. He was a Justice of the Peace and took an active interest in all matters for the welfare of the town. He leaves a widow and son. He had been in'ill-health for some time past.
The death, occurred 'in New Ply-, mouth yesterday of Mr. Jas. Rutherford, father of Sir Ernest Rutherford, at the age of 89 years,—P.A.
