The Rev. Father Pigot, director of Riverviow Observatory, referring _to problems connected with tho recording of oai'tlKpaltesi said that, according to the lato Professor John Milne, one ol Iho greatest seismologists oi all. time, as many as 50,000 earth, tremors wore recorded annually in the various observatories of the 'world. In other wdrds, there wis an earth tremor for every 10 minutes of tho day every day. " Every day of the week the seismopragh records dozens of earthquakes in different pails of the world," was, -a' statement credited to Father Pigot. -Hie reference, he pointed out, was not to the Puverview seismograph's work only, hut to. shocks recorded by seismographs m observatories the world over.
