THE YEAR'S WORK
WAIKOHU ROADS AND HIGHWAYS APPLICATIONS FOR 1928-29 The Waikohu County Council, at its monthly meeting yesterday, approved the applications prepared by tho engineer lor Government grants for riding roads, and that portion of the highway passing through the county, for expenditure during the 1928-29 period. In addition to the list, of applications, the. engineer, M. A. G. Lucas, submitted detailed statements of the work carried out during the past year, and the various statements were adopted without discussion.
The following is the list of applications tb be made for Government grants; also the engineer's remarks: Widening and metalling, Moanui road, £1 for £l, re vote £SOO, amount required £looo.—Was asked to be transferred to Moanui bridge; portions bad in winter. New bridge and approach, Scott's corner to Moanui, free, new money £'VCO, amount required £7oo.—Holds up traffic in winter.
