OBITUARY
MR. JOHN COOK Air. John Cook, formerly of the staff of the Bank of "New Zealand, whose death has occurred at Takapuna, A nek land, was a native of Aberdeen, his father, Air. John Cook, being the owner of one. of tho shipping lines engaged, in trade with the South Pacific colonies 50 years ago. Air. Cook received his train 'ing «ns a banker in the Charterer) Aler canti.e Bank, London, lie arrived ill Auckland in 1879, and ■entered the service of the Bank of New Zealand, which then had its head oll'ice in Auckland. Afterwards ho served the bank in vari ous parts of New Zealand, eventually becoming manager of the Ashburtnn branch, where he was stationed for 14 years. In later years he was a relieving manager. In 1919 lie retired, and since then bad lived cit Takapuna. Mr. Cook, was a keen supporter of acclimatisation work, and took an active interest in the Auckland branch of the Navy League, being honorary secretary for seme time, lie is survived by two sons and one daughter, Air. W. A. Cook, now in Leicestershire, Air. W. D. Cook, farmer, of'Ngatapa, Poverty Bay, and Mrs. 0. G. .1. Wily, of Milford.
