An unusual letter came before the Upper Hull Borough Council the olhev night, when a letter was received Iron, •i ratepayer suggesting Ih'al he should present his sections to the council in lieu of rates owing. The letter read as follows :—""Re summons for rales which I. received to day, would yon accept the sections as payment for same? They are of no value to ine and they might be, of some value (o von for getting boulders and shingle as'(hat. is all there is left of thorn, the river having washed them all away before it changed its course. I,i tin- event of this not- being acceptable would yon advise me the best, way to get them taken off Hie rating roll, m there is nothing left to call 'sections?' The council decided to seek legal advice as to how the ratepayer could be relieved of his difficulties.
