ILLEGAL OPIUM
INCREASED TRAFFIC ALLEGED (Australian Press Assn.-Uuitcd Service.) GENEVA. April 24. The League's opium assessor, Mr. L. Lyall, called attention to the increasing consumption in the Malay Federated and un-Federated States in 1925-26- He accused the, Government of deliberately increasing the quantity .of legal opium in rtrder to decrea.se the quantity of smuggled drug. He added that this action is not in accord with the Bntisi Government's undertaking. Sir Malcolm Delevingo denied the charge, and said the Government of Malaya was doing its utmost to i educe consumption. He complained of the absence of figures relating to production and tho disposal of crude morphine at Formosa. Baron Sato, the Japanese representa tive, promised to supply .statistics.
