SHELLS FROM U.S. DESTROYER WASHINGTON, March 5. . The United States coast.uard destroyer Cassin fired eight shells at the British passenger steamer Isle of June, off Miami harbor, on March 5. The steamer was not hit, but the passengers were very alarmed. The Cassia ordered the steamer to stop to be searched for contraband, but Captain Wheeler, of the Isle of June refused, as his ship was then within British waters near the Bahamas. The Cassin went In pursuit and continued to lire on the steamer till they reached Miami, whero a search showed no contraband.
