GRIFFITHS BEATS GILLESPIE (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, last night. Last evening Tommy Griffiths, beat Norman Gillespie, 8.13£, featherweight champion of Australia, in a 15round contest for a purse of £l5O offered by the Otago Boxing Association. The light was closely contested, 'and went the full distance.
From the outset Griffiths proved himself tho speedier and more elusive boxer, and in the opening ro€nds he did most of the leading. Gillespie is a. likeable boxer who punches hard and straight, but he was too slow for the Dunedin lad, who made his opponent miss badly throughout.
