40 BUILDINGS DESTROYED IN j , • AMERICA. BOSTON, Fob. 3. The business quarter of Fall River •has been devastated by a lire which started at Pocttssot Mills and Canned by a gale spread very rapidly. Eighteen blocks covering half a square mile were practically burnt lo the ground. The damage is estimated as at least 25,000,000 dollars. Forty buildings were destroyed, including two hotels, three theatres, two newspaper plants, four banks, the courthouse and several large department stores. Eleven firemen were removed to hospilal and 260 others received minor injuries. Cold handicapped tho fire fighters, 500 of whom were called in, including detachments from eight, neigh- , boring cities.
