MYSTERIOUS GIFT
LORD REVELSTROKE THOUGHT # TO BE DONOR OF £500,000 LONDON, Feb. .10. Lively speculation regarding who is til p. mysterious donor of £500,000 to the British Government, from .which the ciirh.nln.tiv6 interest is to be used to pay the national debt, has produced a rumor to the effect that the donor is Lord Rovclstroke, chief ,of the famous bank, Baring Bros, and Co., in which the sum is to be held in trust. Well-informed quarters declare Lord Revelstroke is only the figurehead for the peculiar financial transaction,' based upon the fact that Baring Bros. and Co. remain in the unique position of holding millions belonging to the old Russian Imperial Government. These deposits are immovable, since the Bolsheviks are precluded from claiming them. It is asserted that these funds, by agreement with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, will be used as a credit, basis for the redemption of the British debt,
