FIGHTING IN CHINA A NORTHERN ONSLAUGHT (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press _ Assn.) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received April 13, 1 p.m.) SHANGHAI, April 12. Unconfirmed reports state that the Nationalist forces are falling back on Nanking before the Northern onslaught following anti-Nutionalist successes in the Northern Kiangsu province. The Nanking Government's troops are reported to be re-crossing the Yangtse, fleeing southwards, seeking the shelter of! the walled city of Nanking. Sounds of gunfire are reported to be audible from Pukow, the Yangtse terminus of the Pukow-Ticntsin railway. The reports of heavy fighting . between Chang Tso Lin and _ Chiang Kai-Shek’s armies in the vicinity of Hsttchowfu,. following the launching of an offensive by the Northerners, are apparently confirmed, though the permanency of tho Northern victory is questionable. ______
