SCORES OP MEDALS
EXPERT RIFLE SHOT The largest collection of shooting trophies, badges, and medals won by any individual marksman in the British Navy is possossed by Mr. A. Pryce, commissioned gunner, who arrived at Auckland on tike lonic, to join 11.M.5. Diomede. Mr. Pryce, who is being followed by Mrs. Pryce and family, will. be attached to the New Zealand'station for three years. Although he regrets that his winning sequence at the big rifle meetings at Bisley will be broken, Air. Pryce hopes to compete at Dominion rifle meetings during Ills term here. He served with Commodore G. T. C. P. Swabey, officer in charge of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, on the old New Zealand, which was renamed the Zealandic. The commodore was then a lieutenant-comman-der. N Mr. Pryce. lias boon twice in the King’s Hundred, five times in the National Twenty, twice in the Naval Eight for rifle and revolver, and in tw,enty-tliree years of first-class shooting he has won 62 medals and numerous other trophies. Ilis prizes take up most of the space in a largo cabin trunk, which Mr. Pryce insisted on keeping in his state-room. Although his exact position on the staff of the New Zealand naval station has not been nominated yet, it is probable that he will be engaged almost solely in musketry instruction. Mr. Pryce’s badges and medals are so numerous that they could not all be worn on one uniform. The badges arc supposed to be worn only when shooting at a rifle meeting.
