A RECORD ATTENDANCE DOBBIE ANNEXES TREBLE The Waikolm Returned Soldiers' Sports Club held their ninth annual meeting on the Te Karaka Domain yesterday. Beautiful weather favored a record attendance, which included a largo number of enthusiasts who motored out from Gisborne. The track was in perfect condition, which was conducive to fast times. The public were greatly interested in the various cyclying, running, chopping and horse events, which were of a higher standard than previously seen in the district. The selections rendered by Morrow's orchestra were greatly appreciated. Results: — .AMATEUR RUNNING. 100yds Flat Handicap.—First heat (6 starters): T, Corkery scr.il, S." Clare 2. Won by inches. Time, 10 2-ssec. Second heat (6 starters): F. Dobbie 9yds 1, F. McDonald 6£vds 2. Won by Ift. Time, 10 2-ssec. "Third heat (6 starters): R. Mace Byds 1, P. Kennerdy Byds 2. Won by inches. ' From a perfect start the six finalists moved oil with Clare making the pace, but Dobbie gradually gained," and in a thrilling ■finish-breasted the worsted inches- -infront of Kenuerdy, with Mace a foot away third. Time, l 0 2-ssec. 150yds Soldiers' Memorial Handicap. —First, heat (5 starters): T. Corkery 3yds 1, R. Mace lliyds 2, S. Clare 14yds 3. Won by one yard, and two feet. Time, 15 l-ssec. Second heat (6 starters): C. Remnant 4iyds 1, P. Kennerdy lliyds 2, H. Kennaway 9yds 3. Won by and inches. Time, 15 l-ssec. Third heat (5 starters): F. Dobbie 13yds 1, L. Smith Biyds 2, J. Martin Byds 3. Won by two yards, and Time, 15sec. Final: Dobbie 1, Corkery 2, Mac©.3. After one false start through Corkery and Mace breaking, the field was dispatched on the star event of the day. Dobbie, on the limit, held the lead with Corkery and Remnant challenging strongly. On entering the straight Corkery, Mace, and Dobbie were fighting for the lead, and in a brilliant finish, Dobbie's fitness told and he crossed the tape two yards in front of Corkery, with Mace three yards further back third. Time, 15sec.
220yds Flat Handicap (7 starters).— F. Dobbie 1, S. Smith 15 a L yds 2, G. W. Anderson 19yds 3. At the pistol Dobbie sprang to the lead as in the two previous events, and, holding that position, was never challenged, to wiu by two yards, with one yard separating second and third. By winning this event, F. Dobbie annexed the treble. Time, 22 l-ssec. 440yds Flat Handicap.—G. Anderson 40yds 1, H. Kennaway 20yds 2, C. G. McDonald scr. 3. This event drew eight competitors, who were well bunched until 200yds from home, when McDonald sprinted but was unable to catch the limit men, and Anderson went on to win by two yards, with McDonald four yards behind Kennaway. Time, 53 4-ssec.
880vds Flat Handicap (12 starters).— ,T. Egan, 50yds, 1: S. Smith, 20yds, 2. From a good start the field kept together until reaching the home bend, where Smith and Egan took the lead, and in a determined finish the latter breasted the tape one yard ahead of Smith. Bai increased his pace on the home bend and gained the lead to win by two lengths, with Mollison three lengths behind McMahon. Time, 3.55 1-5.
Two-mile handicap (10 starters): N. Bai 80yds. and P. McMahon scr. (deadbeat) 1, F. Pollard scr. 3. The Tiders were well bunched at the bell, and going round the back Bai had an advantage of half a length, with Pollard and McMahon challenging strongly. On entering the straight Bai and McMahon were riding neck and neck, and in a determined finish passed the judges on equal terms, with Pollard half a wheel further back. Time, 5.13..

laps to go the scratch men had caught the limit riders, and, each taking a lap, the bell was reached with M. McMahon and Bai leading. Pollard sprinted ami, gaining the advantage, led for .the remainder of the journey to win by half a wheel from Bai, who was inches in front of Goldsmith. Time, 8.24 1-5.
