(Received March 30, 11 a.m.) LONDON, March 29. “What St. Paid said about women cannot justly be regarded as determining the church’s policy for all time,” says Bishop Weldon, commenting on the objections to ordaining women. “It is idle to assert that women’s function is to be good wives and mothers. Women have not only outnumbered men, but many men shrink from marriage because it is an expensive problem. Finding careers for educated women is even more difficult. - “If the State treats women and men on a basis of equality the church will not always be able to keep women on a basis of inferiority. There is not sufficient reason for denying them holy orders. Woman’s ministry would benefit the church spiritually, especially when male candidates are diminishing. • The time is coming—perhaps it is not far olf —when women’s ordination will be an accomplished fact.” [ln tho first Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians, chapter 14, verses 34 and 15, the Apostle says: “Let your women keep silence in the churches, for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to bn under obedianee, as also saith the. law'. And if they will learn anything let them ask their husbands, at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in tho church.”]
