EARL CAVE DEAD

Cable Association.(Received March 30, 3 p.m.) LONDON, March 2m The day following his resignation of the Lord Chancellorship, and the announcement of the bestowal of an earldom upon him, Earl Cave died suddenly, at the -age of 72 years [The death of Earl Cave removes, one of the most prominent figures in English logal and political life, and brings to an end a .career that, was gs varied as it was 'distinguished. After a brilliant university career lie was admitted as a barrister in 1880, at t)ie -ago of 24 years. He took an early interest in politics, and held many'important legal positions, being appoint ed a K.C. iii 1004. He entered Parliament in 1906, became SolicitorGeneral in 1015, Home Secretary in 1916, a Lord of Appeal in 1019, and Lord Chancellor in 1922. Some months ago he underwent an operation, and had been in impaired health since.]
