The truth of this assertion is realised by the men who have been working the steamer Kaiapoi at the Castleclitf wharf during the past few days (says the Wanganui Herald). On Saturday a strong wind was blowing, and the manure was blown in all directions, chiefly in the eyes and down the throats of the watersiders, many of whom wore ladies’ voils and pieces of buttercloth around their faces, while some protected their eyes from the flying red dust hv wearing motor goggles. A considerable quantity of the manure must have been lost. IT’S THE ROOT THAT MATTERS MOST.
