Mrs. McLcrnon is spending a holiday with her daughter, Mrs. Primrose, 13atlanco street, Gisborne. Miss J. Branson, Unslow road, ISfapier, is visiting Gisborne. Mrs. 11. U. Nolan, of Gisborne, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Westeura, Garden road, Christchurch. Mr. and l Mrs. F. Hutchinson and Miss Corrigan, of Hawke’s Bay, are staying in Gisborne.

Mr. F. G. Smith and Miss R. Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. Ford North, of Napier, havo returned from a visit to Rotorua and Gisborne.

Miss A. Pomare, of Wellington, and Miss D. Sherratt, are staying with Mrs. J. Blair, at Wainui beach, Gisborne. Mr. and Mrs. R. Pike, of Gisborne, have been spending a few' days with relatives in Pahiatua.

Miss N. McGrath, of Remuera, Auckland, has left oil a visit to Napier and Gisborne.

Mr. and Mrs. R. Williams, of Gisborne, havo been staying in Auckland. Mrs. B. Finn, of Auckland, has returned from a visit to Gisborne, where she was the guest of Mrs. Lawson Field. Mr. and l Mrs. Ivan O’Meara, of Gisborne, and their family, are in Auckland, and are staying with Mrs. O’Meara’s mother, Mrs. W. Blomfield, at Takapuna. Mrs. A. J. Faulkner and her daughter, who returned at Christmas from a holiday in Switzerland and the North of England, left Havelock North last w r eek for Gisborne, where they will reside.

Ruatovia visitors to tho Gisborno races included Miss Jean Ludbrook, Mrs. Kershaw, Mr. and Mrs. F. Smyth, Messrs. John Williams, J. and T. Reedy, W. and B. McClutchie, H. Lunken, W. Edgecombe, J. Linden, H. Griffiths and L. R. Lovell.

An enjoyable afternoon was held by the Victoria. League in Auckland, when Lady Capel Wolselcy, Miss Brown, of the Victoria League in London, Miss Waddy, of Sydney, and Miss Janet Murray, who is accompanying Lady Wolseley on her trip, were the guests of honor.

Miss Nancye Martin, of Remuera, Auckland, gave a bright and youthful bridge party to welcomo tho Misses Pittar and Macaulay, of Gisborne. Attractive frocks were worn. The young hostess received in a black embossed chenille georgette; Miss Pittar wore a black jetted georgette; Miss Macaulay, ceil blue taffeta gown; Miss Sadie Mitchelson, pink georgette; Miss Dot Wilson, beige georgette and lace; Miss Betty Jackson, flame panne velvet and chiffon ; Miss Rita Cornaga, flesh silk ninon ; Miss Janet Clarkson, black flowered ninon; Miss Nonie Martin, hand-painted pink georgette.

Certainly no happier setting could bo found for an outdoor wedding than that picturesque garden in which there was tho union last week of two of the oldestestablished and best-known Peninsula

families. From all parts bf Canterbury guests assembled at Kaituna homestead, tho home of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Parkinson. for the marriage of their only child, Marcwa, to Iltyd Leonard, only son of Mrs. John Co'op, of “ Glenrowan,” Kaituna. Tho ccremonv was celebrated bv Canon J. do B Galwey, uncle of the bridegroom, at one end of tho lawYi; the bridal party passing beneath an archwav of flowers from which a wedding hell was suspended.

DANCE AT TOLAGA BAY

The departure of Aliss Helen Bartram, of Tolaga Bay, for England, where her marriago to Mr. John Downes will tako place, was made the occasion of a farewell dance in her honor. The dance was organised by Alcssrs White-Parsons, Slipper, D. Baines, and Reid, and proved a very enjoyable function. During tho suptor interval Air. Smith, on behalf of her friends in Tolaga, presented Aliss Bartram with a cheque. Mr. Bartram responded on behalf of his daughter, who was then toasted with musical honors. A GARDEN PARTY

On Thursday last Mrs. Buckley, of Alanutuke, entertained the members of the gardening circle of tho Women’s Club. Afternoon tea was served out of doors, and tho guests greatly appreciated the garden, especially the dahlias, of which Mrs. Buckley has a fine collection. Those present included Mesdames T. A. DANCE AT RERE

A most enjoyable dance took place in the Rcre Hall on Saturday night as a wind-up to the sports. Numerous visitors from town were present, and t.ho function was in every way a great success. VISITORS ENTERTAINED

A delightful ticne was spent yesterday when Mrs. W. A. Smith gave an afternoon in tho Women’s Club rooms in honor ,of her husband’s sisters, Misses Elizabeth and Marion Smith, of Dunedin. One hundred and twenty-five guests accepted invitations and a, delightful programme tyas enjoyed bv all. The rooms were decorated with dahlias, asters, sunflowers, carnations and asparagus fern. A delicious afternoon tea was dispensed. The guests of honor were presented with exquisite posies of the sweetest pastel-tinted flowers by Aliss Grace Buckley, oil behalf of the hostess. Mrs. S. L. Evans made the posies. Songs (all encored) were given by Alesdanies Phil Barry. C. E. Robinson, Barn ball, and Misses Kitty Arnold, Eileen Parker and Joan Hill. Misses Crossland and Nora Arnold were the accompanists. A piano solo was rendered by Aliss N. Arnold, and Aliss Maureen Keany gave several musical monologues.
