SILENCE FOR SIX MONTHS

FRENCH MINISTERS PARIS, Nov. 17. At the request of M. Poincaire, the Px-einiex’, all the French Ministers have agreed not to make any public speeches from to-day until tho end of tho general elections next May. There can thus be no divided expression oC opinion. M. Poincaire will be the only spokesman of tho Government; he is expected to mako an important political speech in January. It is noteworthy that M. Tardieu, tho Moderate deputy, in a speech at Dijon yesterday declared that the continuance of national union was necossary for the safety of the country. M. Tardieu said: / “There will come a time when you will bo able to satisfy yourselves with discussions and political strife. But at tho moment you must nob forget that tho country has been saved by political union and by tho sacrilice of the various parties which have subordinated their aspirations and ambitions to tho urgent need of national safety.

“This union must continue for at least two or thi-ee years moro if our task is to be carried to a successful conclusion.

“Wo could not undergo without disaster a second crisis similar to that of July 1926.” V
