CYCLONE IN AMERICA
WASHINGTON DAMAGED MANY PERSONS INJURED (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. [Received November .18, 1 p.m.) WASHINGTON, November 17. A cyclone struck the city, following a terrific lightning and rain storm. The section chiefly affected was situated about four miles from White House. The wind lore roofs and fronts from bouses, felled trees, damaged churches and industrial plants, and overturned automobiles. Tho authorities at present are unable to estimate the casualties, but it is known that large number of- persons were injured. All available ambulances were rushed to the stricken districts. Suburban hospitals are so crowded thai they are unable, to spare time to answer telephone inquiries. Many injured were taken to big city institutions also.. Several outlying localities are cut off altogether. President. Cooltdgo left lor I'hiiadclphia during the storm.
