GOVERNMENT EXEMPTION 'Per Press Association.) WKLLINfiTON, this day. The Mayor of Wellington, Mr. G. A. Troup, dealing with the question of rates, said the city YTas losing from £2S,CCO to £40,000 a year by having to pay for the upkeep of streets round Government property, on which no rates wcro paid. All they got was £-<OO per annum on account of some properties run for business purposes. There was far more Government property in Wellington than in other towns. After the new valuation was_ completed the council would take the"malter up and demand some readjustment.
