The v present system of car registration by the Government was defended at a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Automobile Association by Mr. J. E. Peach, who remarked that it > T us most helpful to the police in tracing missing ears. Owing to the necessity for declaring tho engine and chassis number, he pointed out, it was impossible for anyone to disguise the car merely by changing the registration numbers.
