FREEZING SEASON
OPENING OF FACTORIES P.B. WORKS START ON" NOV. 24 N The freezing season in Poverty Bay will open on November 24, on which date the Kaiti and Taruheru works will commence killing. There is nn : abundance of labor available, and no difficulty will be experienced, it 'is anticipated, in securing all the skilled and unskilled workmen required. The local factories will not open with full boards, but will follow the usual prac* i tico of enlarging their staffs as the number of stock increases. There is little likelihood of heavy killing for the first weeks of the season, for the stock is not so forward as the earlier indications suggested. The weather has not been particularly favorable for fattening of the lambs, and this class of stock will bo lateij than usual. ■, K On the East Coast, the sheep fiis}M lambs have made a good start, but ttw Tokomaru works will not open until the first week in December, the opening date being fixed for December 5. As yet there, arc no indications of what the opening prices will bo, though an announcement is expected before long,
