Mr. H. K. Holland, Leader of the Opposition, has been granted two days leave of absence from the House on the grounds of iil r health.

After nn absence of 20 years, Mr. B. H. Stafford, the son of a former Premier of New Zealand, Sir Edward Stafford, is visiting the land of his birth to spend three months fishing, principally at Taupo, although he may later visit the Bay of Islands for the big gama fishing. Mr. Stafford's father was mier of New Zealand during the critical years of the Maori War. He was in office for nine consecutive years, holding the record for the longest term until it tvas broken by Mr. .Richard Seddon. Mr. Stafford was born in Nelson,■ and spent his early days in New Zealand. When lils father retired from politics lie went Home with him to 'England, bin, returned to New Zealand 20 years ago on a fishing trip.—Special.
