THE AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINE
ANTHROPOLOGIST'S INVESTIOA TION.
SYDNEY, Oct. 21
Dr. Warner, the American anthropologist, returned to Sydney to-day, after a seven months' study of the aborigines of the Northern Territory. He said the fate of the Australian blacks would be that of tlie American Indians—they would vanish from the face of the earth. Something might be done to prolong the existence of the native race by segregating individual tribes as yet unharmed by intercourse with whites. In herding blacks in one area care would have to be taken to keep out members of tribes with different standards, especially those blacks who had been in touch with the white man. He suggested that an area which might be resumed for the purpose comprised Hie territory bounded by the Arafura Sea on the north, and the head waters of the Wilton river on the south, the Gulf of Carpentaria on the east, and the Liverpool river on the west. ,
