NELSON SCHEME FAVORED REQUESTS TO GOVERNMENT (Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. There was a prompt aftermath to the devcopments in connection •with the Religious Exercises in Schools Bill in tho House of Representatives yesterday afternoon, when Mr. R, P. Hudson, who had, during tho debate on tho Bill, given notice to movo' an amendment favoring tho introduction of the Nelson system into schools, asked an urgent question of tho Minister of Education. Mr. Hudson wished the Minister to state whether he was prepared thiA session to bring down legislation to make provision for giving facilities for the introduction of the Nelson system into schools.
"The question is one which will have to be dealt with by Cabinet," replied tho Hon. R. A. Wright, "as it is so far-reaching- in its effects. The only answer I can give is that it will bo brought before Cabinet in duo course."
Mr. H. Atniore gave notice to ask •whether the Government will, in view of the report of the Education Committee, and the decision of the House by its vote in favor of the Nelson system of religious instruction, take such steps this session, as a matter of urgency, in the direction of amending the Education Act that no education board or school committee ■ shall have power to prevent duly accredited persons from giving religious instruction in State school buildings out of compulsory school hours, as given at present in Nelson and other places under the Nelson system of religious Instruction,
