Commenting upon Jack Dempsey's preparations for his return championship bout with Gene Tunney for the world title, a writer in the well-known English weekly. All Sports, stated: "I learn that Tom Ileeney, the New Zealander, has gone to Dempsey's camp as a sparring partner, and I should think he is about the best man that could be found for the job. He is a very willing worker', as game as the proverbial pebble, and very fast for a man of his weight That was a good performance on the part of Ileeney whenahe beat Bud Gorman in three rounds®a fortnight ago. He has evidently recovered from the injury which so badly handicapped him in his first fight with Paolino." The comments of the same writer on Tom Heeney's improved outlook, and especially upon his prospects of meeting Dempsey in an official ring, would be interesting reading for Gisborne followers of boxing.
