ANIMALS TO GO SOUTH
Whftt. is believed io be the best price given in this district, and probably in Now Zealand, for a polo pony, was announced this morning, after negotiations during the week-end by Sir Bruce Stewart, of Pigeon Bay, Cunterburv.
Sir Bruce Stewart visited Gisborne during the week-end to inspect some (ionics quoted to him by Messrs Dalgctv and Co., and as a result of his visit is taking away two of them. Sir Bruce is a very keen polo player in Canterbury, and wanted really good animals. * He was taken to Air. James Jobson’s farm at Patutahi, where he purchased Mr. Jobson’s well-known polo and sports pony Ruby, the price paid being £2OO. Later ho also bought from Mr. Leo Fitzgerald, of Ngatapa, the speedy Bone Dry, the price being £75. The above figures speak well for the class of pony in this district, and also reflect great credit on the owners, who have brought the animals up to such a high standard.
