COOLIDGE'S WITHDRAWAL

Senator Fess, after his White House call, said President Coolidge was displeased with the re-election boom conducted on lijs behalf by Republican leaders, and ga,ve the impression that it would not he drafted by the Republican convention next year. Senator Fess intimated that the President vigorously protested against the suggestion that lie would he the Republican nominee by virtue of the draft. Senator Fess told President Coolidge that fie would continue to work for his re-nomination, and that there is a very strong public opinion in favor of the same, but President Coolidge insisted that his choice to refuse was meant senouslv.
