POVERTY BAY EXECUTIVE
A meeting of the Poverty Bay provincial executive of the Farmers' Union was held on Saturday, Mr. J. Hutchinson presiding over: Messrs. F. SBriant, li. Richardson, J. E. Benson, M. F. Trafl'ord, and K. 11- Wickstced. liie president, Mr. F. S; Bovvcn, was absent through illness. Discussing the position of the finances, it was suggested holding a. slock drive to augment the funds.
A letter from flic Dominion secretary asked how Poverty Bay was entitled fo two delegates at the 'Dominion conference. To this the secretary, Mr. W. M. Bayly, replied that in the past Poverty Bay had appointed two delegates. * A further letter from headquarters stated that a total of 218 members entitled Poverty Bay to one delegate only.
Mr. Trafford said the executive had appointed only one delegate, Mr. Bensou. The president- was entitled to a scat at the conference irrespective of tire attendance of another delegate. It was decided to write to the Dominion secretary pointing out these facts. The secretary was given permission to attend a conference of union secretaries at Wellington, providing arrangements were made to keep the anion's office open.
