IMPROVING FRIENDSHIP
1 BRITAIN AND ARGENTINA INAUGURATION OF EMBASSY (British Official ' Wireless.) liec. 10 a.m. LONDON, July 10. Sir Malcolm Robertson, the first British Ambassador to the Argentine Republic, presented his credentials to the Parliament yesterday. The passing of the status of the legislation at Buenos Aires to that of an embassy was recently announced. On the occasion of the presentation of credentials, the King sent a complimentary message to the President, in which ho readied that, " for over 100 years our two countries have been bound *by ties of v uninterrupted friendship, and I "have complete confidence in the permanence of the cordial relations which so happily unite them." Sir Austen Chamberlain's telegram expressed the satisfaction with which the British Government gives this further proof of affirmation of British friendship and regard for tho Government and people of the Republic. Replying to the message sent by Sir Austen Chamberlain, Senor Gallardo, Argentine Foreign Minister, has telegraphed a cordial message' stating that this action by the British Government "has been highly appreciated in all its importance and significance by the Government and people of the Argentine Republic, and constitutes an augury for the maintenance and strengthening of the excellent relations which have happily united us with Great Britain since the commencement of our independent life, your country having contributed very largely to our material development. The lofty example of British institutions has afforded an. inspiration to our political organisation, and it fills us with satisfaction to have evidence that your powerful Empire accords us' her cordial friendship, of which she.has just given fresh and eloquent proof.";
