Mr. .1. 15. Henrys, the well-known handicapper, has been granted six months leave; of absence by'the Canterbury Jockey Club, and he left Auckland on Tuesday by the Aorangi for a trip to Canada and Great Britain. Mr. Henrys has been handicapper to the Canterbury Jockey Club for 08 years. During that lengthy period he has never missed being present a't any of the club's meetin his abs;ence on holiday Ins place as handicapper at Kiccarton will be taken by Mr. W. P. Russell, of Wellington, "who will frame the weights for the Grand National meeting and spring meeting. Mr. Russell has acted as handicapper during the last few years for a number of racing clubs, chiciiy in the North Island., while be is also widely known as a racing judge, officiating iii that capacity for a number of North Island clubs, including the Wellington Racing Club. The departure of Mr. Henrys on holiday will necessitate fresh arrangements being made by a large number of other racing clubs for which be handicaps 'in various parts of the Dominion. He is accompanied on bis trip by Mrs Henrys, to whom he was married a few clays ago.
