SECURING LEAGUE PLAYERS FOR U.K.
(Received June 28, 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 28. At a meeting of the New South Wales Rugby League a communication was received from the New Zealand League that the Dominion was willing to support New South Wales and Queensland so that, the English clubs should he defeated in their efforts to secure players from Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Sunderland, secretary of the Queensland League, said t)int. since the arrival of the Queensland team Sydney representatives of English clubs had negotiated with players, offering thorn inducements to sign agreements with clubs in Britain. One player had named £BOO, which In 4 considered a prohibitive figure, hut if. was accepted, The player decided In remain in Australia. Mr Sunderland said he felt that flic Anslraljnn clubs must offer something in an intermit.i.omil way to players, arid suggested that a. team should h(> sent to England every four years.
