(P.A. Messages.) At Blenheim to-day, George- William Clemens pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk in charge of a motor cycle. Oh the condition that accused took out a prohibition order, the magistrate con- : victed and discharged him. Alexander Bong, a youth, pleaded guilty in Christchurch to-day to break - ! ing into a butcher’s shop at Sydenham 'ancl stealing £2 6s 7d. Accused was I committed for sentence. The evidence i showed that accused had cut through i a zinc door at the hack of tlie shop. ! He said he was destitute at the time. At 1.30 o’clock this morning a WellingI ton police •constable’s attention war i arrested by a .car engine racing. In j restitutions led to tlie arrest of James j Tier and Brian J. Driscoll, wateikidors. I who were convicted in the Police Court j for conversion of the car and given three j months’ gaol. (Hi a charge of being in i toxicated at the wheel, Tier was sen ! fenced to another month’s imprisonment ■ the sentences to he concurrent.
The following prisoners were son fenced at Wellington Supreme Court to-day: James Wood, breaking and entering at Palmeyston North, probation for one year; Hector Vernon Penwarden, forgery and false pretences at. Now Plymouth, Wanganui, and Palmerston North, reformative treatment for two years; Thomas Alexander Dali, forgery and uttering at Wellington, probation for one year.
