The fact of the New Zealand championship tournament, being as close to home as Falmerston North will no doubt make it possible for Poverty Bay to bo represented this year. Although there are fewer teams in the Oisborno competitions this year, and consequently fewer players to choose from, there is some good material offering, and a strong team should be available. Last year was the first time Poverty Bay wns not represented at a New Zealand ladies tournament for some time.

Poverty Bay has won the New Zealand ladies championship on live, occasions, the last being in 1922, when the tournament was held in Napier. Tho previous year, 1921, Poverty Bay and Wellington tied for first place; tho tournament was then played in Palmerston North, Poverty Bay was also successful in 1920, when the tournament was held in Gisbornq. The other two occasions when Poverty Bay headed the list were in 1918 and 1915. Since Poverty Bay was successful in 1922, Southland has been at the top of tho list on every occasion, except last year when they shared honors witli Ruahinc. It is time Poverty Bay again came to the fore once more. VICTORIOUS ENGLISH LADIES. ADELAIDE, Juno 21. The English ladies' team defeated South Australia by 10 goals to 0.
