BURGLARY CHARGE
TRACED BY TRAM TICKETS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The house of Henry William McCarthy, Home street, was broken into last week and £7 12s in cash and two tram tickets stolen. Information about the missing tickets was supplied to a tram conductor, and yesterday the conductor drew the attention of a policeman to a car passenger. The latter left the car with the constable quietly, but made a holt round file corner. He was recaptured quickly, and to-day appeared in Court charged with breaking and enterfng and theft.
The ehief-deteoflve asked for a remand saying other charges were pending. When bail was sought he said tho police alleged the house was broken into and afterwards set on fire. Ho said bail should be substantial.
Tlie Magistrate fixed hail at J3SCO. The accused is John Asher, 31, laborer.
