AUSTRALIAN ROADS
FEDERAL SCHEME APPROVED
(Received June 20, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, June 19.
At the Premiers’ conference Mr. Lang accepted the Commonwealth road agreement which provides for the building of roads by the aid of Federal grants, involving an expenditure of £20,000,000 of the Commonwealth spread over 10 years. After the meeting, which was held in camera, Mr. Bruce stated that now there was every prospect of a unanimous agreement on all the Commonwealth’s financial proposals, Mr. Lang having indicated his willingness to give way on a number of important details.
