RABBIT EXTERMINATION
EAST COAST BOARD MEETS The monthly meeting of the East Const Babbit Board was held in Gisborne this morning, Iho chairman, Mr E. M. Hutchinson, presiding. There were also present: Messrs M. T. Trafrerd, E. M. Moneklon, C. G. 11 oldswort h, and I). M. Boss (inspector of stock). Inspector H, Burgess reported that during the past month rabbits were icported to have been seen on the road between Kutarere and Nukuhu, also on the road near Wniniana. Together with one of the rabbiters he gave the country a thorough search, and could find no traces of rabbits. Babbits killed in his district during the past month were as follow: Te Tcko 1, Wnlotihu 7, To Gould and Kopuriki 2, Galatea" station .'I, Te Whaiti :i; total. i«".
Inspector T. Dawson reported having visited a fair portion of the Wairoa country, finding conditions in good order. He discovered odd traces oil Mohaka No. 1 block, and on Puttrc, but he was having these places attended to. He also found Cfld traces of rabbits at Te Tihi, where one rabbit had been caught up to the time of writing. He had two men .working on this place, and hoped to have it clean by the end of, the month. The numbers killed were as follow: Mohaka 2, Putere 4, Te Tihi 1, Maungataniwha 3, Wairoa 1; total, 12. The reports were adopted.
It was agreed that in the meantime the board should not appoint a chief inspector to replace the late Mr. A. M.cGill, but should cany on for the present with its two sub-inspectors, who, in the opinion of the members, were fully able to administer their own districts.
Accounts amounting to £642 ISs 8d were passed! for payment.
