GERMANS AT TENNIS
LONDON, May 28,
A message from Paris states that there were five German victories in the French hard eourf tennis championships. Among them was that of the 18-voar-oid Fraulein Cecilia Aussem, who defeated Mile. Contostavlos, G—o, .I—G, G—3.
Fraulein Aussem's chief asset, is beautiful footwork, and she is gifted with a better temperament than Mile."'Lenglen. She was not perturbed even in the second set, when there were many long rallies, the ball once crossing the net 70 times. The tennis representative of the Daily News in Paris states that Fraulein Aussem's victory over Miss Ridley, who is in particularly tine form, stamps her as distinctly good, but the real test will be at Wimbledon, where she is not likely to defeat Mrs. Oodfroe, Senorita Alvarez and Miss Wills. It will be time enough to discuss the "German Lenglen" when she is capable of such a feat. Lenglens are not found so easily.
