The mails which left Auckland on May 10 per s.s, Niagara, via Vancouver, arrived in London on June 9.

Advice in connection with the dates of farm schools was received by the Poverty Bay Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' union, which met this morning. The Director of Agriculture advised that Dr. 1). LFreeman was in charge of the arrangements for Poverty Bay and it was regretted that the" school at, Oisborne could not be held before July 11. The secretary, Air. W. M. Bayly, reported having received telephone advice this morning from Dr. Feeman, who had fixed the following dates for farm schools in Poverty Bay: Oisborne, July 21 aiid 22; Tolaga Bay, July 25; Rnatoria. July 26. Dr. Freeman would be in Oisliorne next week and would be willing to give a lecture on matters of farmirg interest. The meeting discussed the subject which it was suggested Dr. Freeman should follow, it being proposed he should give a practical demonstration and address on the cause of the deterioration of the pastures, with particular application to Poverty Bay. This matter was deferred until the secretary could discuss it with Dr. Freeman.

The Oisborne Scottish Society has' decided to donate the whole of the proceeds of their July social' and dance to the Mayor's unemployment' relief fund, to be allocated for labor. The society will pay the. running expenses of the dance themselves. The Rev. Geo. Frost conducts the people's service to-inororvv night ' "in. Wesley Church, the subject of the address helng 'The God of Prayer: the God that undeistandeth."' The choir will render Donald Ruck's anthem, "The God of Abraham Prajse." Te Karaka and the surrounding dis-tricts-are at present in friendly rivalry, conducting a baby carnival. The objects are laudable, viz., to pay off the balance owing on the parish ear, and to augment the fund to build a parish haft at Te Ka<\ika. The districts of Waipaoa, Te Karaka, Puha, and Whatatutu have each selected a baby and are vicing with each other to secure the most votes. A ball will be held in Puha hall (as. advertised) on Thursday evening, Ju ie 30, to further the chan'cea of the Puha baby.
