OPOTIKI COUNTY COUNCIL

~ (Herald Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Opotiki County Council was held at Opotuu on Thursday. A vote of condolence was passed to the county clerk, who had lost a relative. 1 . The country solicitors advised that they had collected £94 in native rates in arrears. Mr. S. Burgess was granted a slaughter-house license, subject to the approval of the health inspector. Mr. T. H. Pearson, secretary of the Opotiki branch of the Farmers’ Union, stated that Hie Post Office was now anxious and willing to inaugurate a rural' mail delivery. The writer added that the present roads were not suitable. The road .at. Woodlands needed repairing. The! chairman said that the road at Woodlands was in good order. Several councillors concurred.
