Mr Coates said such an hotel was badly needed in Auckland, because most of the. tourists landed here. Another hotel was needed in Dunedin to serve t!n> cold lakes district. Improvement was needed at Rotorua and Queenstown, and then the Dominion would not be badly served. If private enterprise provided for tourists the Government would co-operate through the Tourist and Railway Departments. Tt is estimated that the new hotel can be run at. 17s 6d a day for tiro best rooms, including everything.
