OBITUARY
MR. 11. D. O’CALLAGHAN (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The death occurred on Saturday of Mr Henry Davies O’Callaghan, 'aged bfi, formerly a fanner in Hint Valiev and Aukland, and Inter hills clerk iii Parliament. He was a well-known angler and goffer. * MR. SYDNEY NEWMAN A well-known and highly respected sheep farmer of Hie Poverty Bay district ill the person of Mr. Sydney Newman died in Wellington on Saturday night. The late Mr. Newman had been a resident of Poverty Bay for many years, formerly of Kannkanaia and latterly of Waimata. Having been in ill-health for some time, he went to Wellington about three weeks before his death to undergo an operation, lie was born at Gisborne in 1880. The deceased, who leaves a widow and three young children between the ages of 7 and 13 years, was the son of Mr. A. B. Newman, of Gisborne, and was married to .the eldest daughter of Mrs. McKenzie, of Iramii road, and the late John McKenzie, of Patutahi. In his younger days the late Mr. Newman “was a prominent member of the Poverty Bay Hunt Club. The funeral will leave the Waerenga-a-hika church to-morrow at 2.45 p.m. for the Patutahi cemetery.
