FIRE AT TOKOMARU BAY
GENERAL STORE BURNED (Herald Correspondent). A general store owned and occupied by Mr.'S. McKee at Tokomaru Bay, was completely destroyed by fire at three o’clock this morning. It was an old building and the flames spread quickly. Fortunately the activities of a bucket brigade saved the adjoining buildings, which were less than 10ft. away from the burning store. Mr. Melvee was absent at the time, and it is not known how the fire originated. The building was insured for £3OO in the Commercial Union office, but no information is available in connection with the cover on the stock, A BLAZE IN CHRISTCHURCH (Per Press Association.) . CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A lire in Bowliill road. North Beach, destroyed a shop and dwelling yesterday. The building was owned by Mrs. E. A. Cooke, and was insured for £650.
