MEAT EXPORT COSTS
GISBORNE TO LONDON At the request of tlie Poverty Bay Provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has advised that e'xport frozen meat charges were as follows: —Slaughtering, freezing, bagging, wharfage, lighterage,, freight to Loudon—Lamb, 2.2bd per lb.; mutton, I.Scl. per lb. Insurance, interest, exchange, etc. —Lamb, ,2Sd. per lb.; mutton, .195 d. per lb. London charges, including port dues, storage for 28 days, cartage, market toll and selling commission, —Lamb, .51 od. per lb.; mutton. .447 d. per lb. Totals. Lamb 3.o43d.'per lb G mutton 2.442 d. per lb. The above figures, the letter explained, were based bn 341 b. average for lamb, arid 561 b. average for mutton. The (mounts placed against insurance, interest, exchange and selling commission must not be taken as standard figures, and they inav be altered from time to time, dependent op the variations of the Smithfield market. No provision was made for railage, droving, or % drafting, or credits tor skins or fat values., Slaughtering and freezing charges were based on services a Kaiti works.
