In order to commemorate his eightieth birthday, Mr. Moss Davis, now of London, and formerly a wellknown Auckland business man, has given £1250 to be distributed among Auckland orphanages and various philanthropic societies. Among the institutions specifically mentioned by Mr. Davis were St. Mary’s Home for Girls, Orphans’ Home, Papatoctoe, and Richmond road Orphanage, and under the gift these institutions will benefit to the extent of £IOO each.—P.A.
